The moment that made this project necessary
On March 26, 2026, I opened my phone and found this news. I read it once. I read it twice.
"The agreement brings back the teaching of Russian as the first foreign language in Cuban schools, similar to what happened during the 1970s and 1980s, before the fall of the USSR."

I was speechless. And in that moment I knew that Future Voices Cuba was not just an idea — it was an urgent necessity.
Russian is the language of their political allies. English is the language of the free world. Cuban children deserve to choose — and Future Voices Cuba exists to give them that choice.
Our Mission
Cuban children ages 9–15 who have no access to independent English instruction receive free, live classes built around their reality. Learning English is not simply an academic achievement — it is a tool for freedom, for access to uncensored information, and for economic opportunity in a rapidly changing world.
Cuban families access classes through Telegram — the most available tool in Cuba today. All materials are downloadable and work without a stable internet connection, because a child's learning cannot depend on infrastructure.
Our teaching approach combines communicative language teaching, content-based instruction, and task-based learning — all adapted to the real needs of Cuban children ages 9 to 15.
Why This Matters

English gives Cuban children access to the world's knowledge — beyond what their government allows.

English fluency is one of the most in-demand skills in Cuba's growing private sector and international job market.

English connects Cuban children to the most up-to-date educational resources in the world, the ideas shaping the 21st century, and the culture of the country that has welcomed more Cubans than any other.
The Story Behind the Project
"I came to Miami at 14 years old not speaking a single word of English. I know exactly what it feels like to sit in a classroom and understand nothing — the fear, the frustration, and the determination it takes to learn from zero.
In my first week of 9th grade, I finally approached a group of Hispanic girls hoping to connect in Spanish — they answered me in English. That moment of isolation stayed with me for years.
That experience never left me. Today I have 5 years as a certified educator in bilingual classrooms in Miami, where I work daily with students learning in two languages. I designed this curriculum from the inside — knowing exactly what it feels like to learn English from zero.
